Meet Missy Eversole!

Author, Speaker and launching this week…podcaster! Missy’s new podcast is called Bold Faith Now and can be found wherever you stream your favorite podcast. Take a listen here!

Missy reached out to me at the perfect time, about 2 months prior to the launch of her podcast. Along with creating images for her podcast cover art, she wanted updated photos for her media kit. Specifically, she wanted a fresh new headshot to go on the about me section of the cover to her new book.

Maybe you can relate? On my discovery call with Missy she mentioned her current media kit images included photos that were taken when she first started out. She had someone who took good pictures, but not necessarily specialized in professional headshots, take her photos.

One thing that she specifically mentioned was that she had her photos taken with her glasses off because they had glares in them they couldn’t correct. I do see this from time to time during a headshot session where a client will want to “just take them off”. My advice, if you clients are used to seeing you with your glasses on, then that is how we should photograph your professional headshots! The right photographer will know how to photograph you with your glasses on and get no glare! And in the case of transition lenses, I recommend once your arrive to the studio to remove the lenses for your photoshoot and pop them back once we’ve finished.

If you’ve been in business for over a year and are still using your headshot that someone “snapped real quick for you”…consider it time to take the big step and get a professional image of yourself. You’ll radiate confidence each time you hand someone your business card with that polished and professional image.

Lastly, the reoccurring word that kept coming up when planning Missy’s session was relatable. This looks different for each personal brand and is thoughtfully created to make it reflect the individual and the service or product they provide.

For Missy, this meant showcasing her studying and reading God’s word. After all, this is the bulk and premise of what she does. She brought 5 Bibles to her session each in a different translation. From her very first Bible she ever purchased we stacked them up…it’s one of my favorite images from her session. Second favorite would be her studying the highlighted versus in her most loved and used Bible.

I’ll admit, I wasn’t ready for our time to end. Missy was a delight to be around. She left me with a copy of her current book, Transformed not Conformed, and it has been a treat to draw closer to the Lord through reading it. You can go HERE to purchase your copy.
