Why Brand Photography Isn’t One-and-Done
A little over two years ago, I met Missy Eversole for the first time as she stepped into my studio. At that time, she was preparing to publish her book Transformed Not Conformed.
Up until this point, Missy had never had a professional brand session done. Like so many entrepreneurs starting out (myself included!), she had a few images taken by a friend but nothing that truly represented her brand in a consistent and polished way.
And here’s the thing—I see this often. In the beginning, it’s 100% okay if that’s where you are financially. When you’re launching a business or stepping into something new, professional photography might feel like a “someday” investment. But sooner or later, there comes a time when you realize that quality images aren’t just nice to have—they’re essential to really grow this little business you’ve created into that dream. ✨

Missy’s First Brand Session
For Missy, that first session gave her a complete set of images she could use everywhere: her website, author profile, media kit, business cards, speaking engagements, and podcast. Together, we created a gallery that reflected her brand, Bold Faith Now, and gave her the confidence to show up as the leader and author she is.
Why It Was Time for a Refresh
Fast forward two years—Missy’s story continues to grow. She changed her hairstyle and color, invested time into her health, and started a brand-new venture: writing a Christian historical fiction novel.
All of those shifts meant her photos needed to grow, too.
So, we created a brand refresh session! We updated her headshots, added new brand images in fresh locations, and created an updated collection that blends with her existing images. Now she has a set of photos ready to support her website, speaking engagements, and marketing materials. Her photos reflect not only where she’s been, but also where she’s going.

Why Brand Photos Aren’t “One and Done”
There’s a big misconception that once you get professional brand photos, you’ll never need them again. But what I’ve seen to be true over and over is this:
➡️ The more you step into your calling and clarify who you’re serving, the more you’ll need images that align with your updated messaging.
➡️ The more your business grows and your story evolves, the more your photos need to evolve with you.
Missy’s journey is such a beautiful reminder that brand photography isn’t just about having “a few nice headshots.” It’s about telling your story, connecting with your audience, and shining a light on the purpose you were created for.

Is It Time for Your Refresh?
If you’re at a point in your business where your old images no longer reflect who you are today—or who you’re becoming—then it may be time for a refresh. Working with a photographer who specializes in brand photography means you’ll walk away with images that fit your marketing plan, resonate with your audience, and give you confidence to show up consistently.
Your story is worth telling—and your photos should tell it well. 💛
