Illinois State University Graduation Photos | Bloomington-Normal Graduation Photographer

Graduating from Illinois State University is a milestone worth celebrating. Years of classes, friendships, campus traditions, and late nights studying all lead up to this moment.

For many Redbirds, graduation photos are about more than just putting on a cap and gown. They’re a way to celebrate the experiences, friendships, and memories made during their time in Normal and Bloomington.

I’ve photographed many ISU graduates over the years—from sorority sisters celebrating together to student-athletes finishing their final season. Each session is unique because every student’s story at ISU is different.

A Typical Illinois State Graduation Photo Session

Most graduation sessions around Illinois State University follow a relaxed path across campus, stopping at meaningful places along the way.

We often start at the steps near Brown Auditorium, one of the most recognizable spots on campus and a beautiful place to begin a session.

From there, we usually walk across the bridge toward the Illinois State University Quad, where students spent countless hours between classes, studying, or relaxing with friends.

Of course, no ISU graduation session feels complete without a stop at The Redbird Statue, often called “The Bird.” It’s a favorite tradition for graduating seniors and one of the most iconic photo spots on campus.

Along the way, we also stop at buildings that hold special meaning—whether that’s a classroom building, an athletic facility, or a place where friendships and memories were made.

Celebrating Friendships and College Memories

Some of my favorite graduation sessions include friends joining in to celebrate together.

I’ve photographed:

  • Sorority sisters celebrating their final semester together

  • College athletes who became lifelong friends

  • Groups popping champagne to celebrate graduation

  • Students graduating from the School of Business

  • Friends who met during their first year at ISU and are finishing together

These moments often become the photos graduates treasure the most—capturing not just the achievement, but the friendships that made the journey unforgettable.

Graduation Photos That Last Long After College

Graduation photos are often shared online, but they’re also meaningful keepsakes for years to come.

Many graduates use their photos for:

  • Graduation announcements

  • Thank-you cards

  • Friendship books that document their college memories

  • Prints and gifts for family members

  • A modern professional headshot for their first job or graduate school applications

For some graduates, this moment marks the start of a career. For others, it’s the next step toward a graduate degree. Either way, these photos capture the transition into a new chapter.
